Schüco International KG relies on Executive Automats for Dynamics AX test automation

Schüco International KG has been using Microsoft Dynamics AX as an ERP system in several of its national companies since 2009. Since then, ongoing adjustments to the software and business processes have required intensive manual testing to ensure high quality and reliability. Over time, the requirement to reduce the resulting expenses developed. In the end, Schüco decided on Executive Automats as a tool for test automation as part of a selection process.

Executive Automats identified as the most efficient solution

In six different countries and time zones, the national subsidiaries of Schüco International KG currently work on a central installation of Microsoft Dynamics AX. For the leading supplier of high-quality windows, doors, and façade systems made of aluminum, PVC-U, and steel, the main priorities are reliability and quality. To guarantee these factors, Schüco carries out intensive tests in all countries for every change. Due to the large number of people involved and the complexity of the system, these manual functions and integration tests are extremely resource and time-intensive. In 2015, the company, therefore, decided to evaluate suitable software for test automation in Microsoft Dynamics AX. The goal was to reduce testing efforts while maintaining a high level of process reliability and existing quality standards. “After testing various providers and piloting several solutions on a test basis, Executive Automats proved to be the most efficient software for mapping the requirements presented.” reports Matthias von Komorowski, Head of IT Information Systems & IT Smart Business Solutions (SBS) at Schüco. According to the IT manager, another selection criterion was the competent and excellent support provided by the German partner, Partner for Performance (formerly webtelligence IT consulting GmbH).

Discovering interactions while still in development

“We use Executive Automats to further optimize the quality in the development process through automated tests to identify possible sources of error in advance and to eliminate them.” says Benjamin Heiland, Team Leader IT SBS at Schüco. This enables the company to rule out the possibility that new developments could have a negative impact on other modules and processes in the same country layer or in another company account.

Executive Automats, a product of the Polish software manufacturer XPLUS, is distributed in the German-speaking region by Partner for Performance. “Schüco uses this powerful tool to test new developments in nightly automated process executions,” says Michael Roedeske, describing how his customer uses the system. “If a defined test is not successful, a Schüco employee is automatically informed.” continues the Managing Director of Partner for Performance. According to Schüco, a good example is a major hotfix from Microsoft, which was made available in April 2017 due to tax reform in India. Thanks to Executive Automats, it was possible to identify any errors that occurred directly and report them to the development department promptly. All in all, the optimized quality and the meager error rate in the subsequent integration and process tests resulted in considerable time savings. “I am pleased that Schüco is now permanently able to maintain high standards and save costs at the same time with our solution.” Mr. Roedeske summarizes.
